There is a sadness in the world. Behind steel door, iron cage and wire fence it sits and it stands, waiting for the inevitable. A sentience subdued, where nothing remains but helplessness to learn.

But religious intolerance wasn't wrong,

until it was.

Slavery wasn't wrong for forever years,

until it was.

Child labour wasn't wrong,

until it was.

Woman non-suffrage wasn't wrong,

until it was.

Racism wasn't wrong,

until it was.

Sexism wasn't wrong,

until it was.

Homophobia wasn't wrong,

until it was.

Animal abuse all around us isn't wrong,

until it will be.

I am hopeful that our ethics will improve. But it requires raised awareness by talking, writing, listening, watching, and ultimately, introspecting.
